ABOUT US
PORTO SPACE TEAM
We are an association made up of university students, from FEUP (Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto). Our mission is to produce meaningful research, while teaching aspiring engineers to become even better professionals.
Every day at Space Team is a new day where we try to push ourselves further, because we believe that challenge is the only way to create something groundbreaking, let it be a hybrid-propellant rocket or the next generation of space pioneers.

INVICTUS

WHAT IS INVICTUS?
- Invictus is our first project, where we aim to develop a hybrid propulsion model rocket to participate in EuRoC 2024, with an apogee of 3000 meters, in the SRAD category
MAIN FEATURES?
SRAD stands for Student Research and Developed, which means that we are designing the entirety of our rocket from scratch!
This means that we need to build computational models and perform many experimental tests to valid every component and system of the rocket
Hybrid propulsion systems function on the basis of mixing a solid propellant with a liquid oxidant.
They are a step above of solid propulsion, in terms of complexity, and require much more testing, and an accurate electromechanical system to control oxidant flow
3000 meters as our desired apogee, we expect that our rocket will be about 5 meters tall!
Due to the weight of the hybrid propulsion system, we must carefully balance height, diameter and weight, to ensure that we can reach the 3000 meters!
EuRoC
WHAT IS EUROC?
- EuRoC stands for The European Rocketry Challenge and it’s the first Rocket Launch Competition for european university team.
- EuRoc was created by the Portuguese Space Agency in 2020
THEIR GOALS
- Stimulate young people’s interest in STEM
- Contribute to the development of technological skills and the promotion of a scientific and innovational culture among young university students
- Attract and involve national and international partners in supporting the expansion of the aerospace industry
- Demonstrate that Portugal is in a position to hold a unique European-level event in the field of aerospace engineering and, in particular, in the experimental launcher component.
OUR GOAL
- We want to participate in 2024 edition with our project INVICTUS
